Bebé PT is dedicated to helping women in and around West Los Angeles, CA, restore the health and function of their core muscles following pregnancy and childbirth so they can prevent issues like chronic back pain and incontinence.
Your core muscles are a large group of major and minor muscles in your torso – specifically the low and mid back areas and the belly or abdomen – that play critical roles in all sorts of important activities, including balance and walking. In fact, many of your core muscles are essential for the birthing process, enabling you to “bear down and push” to help your baby move through the birth canal. Core muscle strengthening can help improve your posture, lower your risk of injury, and reduce aches and pains like back aches, headaches and leg pain.
During pregnancy and delivery, your core muscles are under substantial strain. The increasing weight of your belly takes a toll on your back and abdominal muscles, creating unequal forces that can cause long-term dysfunction in your core if the muscles are not restored to their pre-pregnancy state. That can mean increasingly frequent – and more severe – bouts of back pain and other issues that affect your health and your quality of life. Plus, a weak core can also contribute to postpartum incontinence when the muscles that support the pelvic floor become strained, weakened or damaged during delivery or as a result of pregnancy weight gain.
Strengthening the core muscles after pregnancy involves a series of exercises to build strength and restore flexibility in the abdomen and back, as well as the shoulders, neck and hips. Often, these exercises are combined with physical therapy to help address the root causes of muscle weakness, strain and pain. At Bebé PT, your treatment will be customized to suit your specific needs, health, lifestyle, goals and other factors so you can experience the best possible benefits and outcome.
In an effort to make women's health physical therapy accessible and affordable, Bebé PT (now an Origin company) is a participating provider for hundreds of different health plans in California. Treatments are generally covered with a prescription from your OB/Gyn or any physician. If you don't have a prescription, we can send the physician a prescription on your behalf. Below is a list of the health plans for which we are in-network.
